01Who we are

This website, dehaanassoc.com, is operated by de Haan & Associates Construction Consulting, Inc. (“de Haan & Associates,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains how we handle information collected through the website. Questions can be sent to info@dehaanassoc.com or by calling 510.815.4421.

02Information we collect

Information you give us. When you use the inquiry form we receive the details you enter: your role, name, firm or organization, email address, phone number, the state where the property is located, the building type, the service you need, any key dates, and your message. If you email or call us, we receive the information you choose to provide.

Information collected automatically. Like every website, ours receives technical request data when a page loads: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. Our hosting provider processes this data to deliver the site, protect it from abuse and keep it running.

Visit statistics. To understand which pages are useful, the website counts page views itself, without cookies and without storing anything on your device. For each page view it records the page, the type of device (phone, tablet or computer), the US state or country your network is in, and, for the first page of a visit, the domain of the website that linked to it. It does not record your IP address or any identifier, so visits cannot be tied to you or followed across websites. These counts are kept as daily totals. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, your visit is not counted.

Cookies. This website does not set cookies for visitors, and does not use advertising pixels, session recording, chat widgets or social media plug-ins. The private team portal, used only by de Haan & Associates staff, sets one strictly necessary sign-in cookie for its users. If we ever add a tool that changes this, we will update this policy first.

03How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to your inquiry and decide whether and how we can assist
• Keep a record of inquiries we have received
• Understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful and how visitors find the site
• Operate, maintain and secure the website, including limiting repeated or automated form submissions
• Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

04How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with service providers that process it on our behalf and under our instructions:

• Vercel Inc., which hosts the website, processes request data to deliver and secure it, and holds inquiries and visit statistics in private, encrypted storage
• Our email delivery provider, which carries each inquiry, and alerts about it, to our team’s inboxes
• The notification services of our team’s own phones and computers (Apple, Google, Microsoft or Mozilla), which deliver alerts about new inquiries. Alerts are encrypted end to end, so these services cannot read them
• Our email and business software providers, where inquiries are kept once received

05When we may disclose information

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena or court order, to protect the rights, property or safety of de Haan & Associates or others, or in connection with a merger, sale or transfer of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.

06How long we keep it

Inquiries sent through the website form are kept in our private portal for 24 months and then deleted automatically, unless we delete them sooner. Copies in our email, case files and business records are kept for as long as needed to respond, to maintain records of matters we have been asked to consider, and to meet legal obligations, and then deleted. Visit statistics are kept as daily totals that identify no one. Technical request data is retained by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own policies.

07How we protect it

The website is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS) with strict security headers. The inquiry form is validated on our server, limited in size and rate, and delivered as plain text. Each inquiry is encrypted before it is stored, and only signed-in members of our team can read it, through a private portal protected by individual passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not send confidential case information through the form or by unsolicited email.

08Your choices and rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing info@dehaanassoc.com. We will verify the request and respond within the time the law allows. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.

California residents. California law gives residents rights regarding personal information, including the right to know, delete and correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, and we honor the requests above for California residents.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We honor both: if your browser sends either signal, the website does not count your visit at all. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of sale or sharing, which we do not do in any case.

09Children

This website is intended for professionals and property owners. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

10Links to other websites

Our pages may link to other websites, such as state license lookups. Their privacy practices are their own; please review their policies.

11Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
